Flower Care Instructions
Brought home a new bouquet of gorgeous flowers? Amazing! If you take the below steps, your flowers should last a week or more depending on the variety.
What to do when you first bring home your flowers:
- Use a clean, sanitized vase.
- Mix fresh, cool water* with your flower food of choice. If you want to make your own flower food: - Mix 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp bleach, 2 tsp vinegar/lemon juice, 1 qt water
- *Some flowers with woody stems such as hydrangea benefit from a bath in extra hot water for 15 minutes prior to adding to the main arrangement.

- Cutting at an angle with a sharp scissors, snip off the bottom 1/2 inch or more from all stems.
- Remove all lower leaves that would become submerged in water.
- Place your flowers somewhere out of direct sunlight and in a cool part of your home. - After the first day:
- Every other day, change the water. If you notice cloudiness, change more frequently.
- Snipping the bottom 1/2 inch of the stems every few days can help ensure the stems continue to uptake water.
- Never let lower leaves become submerged in the water. If necessary, pull or cut them off.
- Spent flowers should be removed from the arrangement.
- Smelling and appreciating flowers multiple times a day is recommended. Enjoy!
